iON Featured Athlete: Asha Ruth | Sprinter | In Search of her Best

July 9, 2018

This month we are excited to feature a fast rising track star and outstanding role model, Asha Ruth! This Rutgers grad has quickly made a name for herself as a member of an American Record setting relay team.

Asha Ruth

American 4 x 200 Record Holder

What inspires you?

What inspires me most is being able to inspire others. I train hard and at a high level to hopefully light a fire in other individuals who want to pursue their dreams, whatever it may be. The fruits of my labor have resulted is personal records, American records and overall a following of people of all ages who aspire to follow their dream as I am.

What are your athletic goals for this season? Current goal for the season is to run a 51 high in my 400 and 22 high in my 200. I also would like to compete at more international meets to build my athlete brand along with running fast against different competition.

What is the most significant challenge you face in achieving your goal?

Recovering fast enough to be in tip top shape for the next practice in order to give 110%. Some days I feel good, other days my body is hurting from the intensity of practices and gym work.

"...Never let it rest until your good gets better and your better gets BEST!!"

What is a technical aspect of your sport you are focusing on or have previously improved?

I am really trying to master my race strategy. Whether I'm racing someone faster than me or not, I should be bale to run my same race with no issue.

What is your approach to Recovery?

Rest is the biggest thing for me when it comes to recovery. On my rest day, I make sure I get adequate sleep and will usually get a massage and ice bath or epsom salt bath to help me recover quicker.

What do you like about iON?

I love that iON is huge on recovery. Provides you with recovery products for every body part. I love the bath and foot soaks because LORD KNOWS my feet and legs are the areas of which I overwork the most. So, a nice bath soak is perfect!
